Shin Huoy's GIS Portfolio
Cartography
While I was on my Student Exchange Programme (SEP) in the University of British Columbia for one semester, I took the opportunity to take the course GEOB 372: Cartography.
I learnt the fundamental principles of map creation and design. I had the opportunity to create different types of maps, including a choropleth map, proportional symbol map, reference map and graduated symbols map etc. I also learnt the basics in geospatial data analysis such as spatial reference systems, scale, projections, generalization and symbolization.
I had the opportunity to create many maps, with the use of the programmes Adobe Illustrator and ArcMap. This page is a compilation of the maps that I have designed and created. Please click on the images for more details of the task and my map creation process.
